Google has just announced the new “Google Advisor” tool that offers financial tools similar to the offering at Mint.com has offered for a few years now.
Google Advisor will allow users to track, forecast and get advice on their basic finances ranging from checking to mortgages.
You can easily compare offers from participating advertisers and contact them for more information. To help you avoid unwanted sales calls, Google protects your contact information throughout the process.
While this is an awesome tool and can protect you from the unwanted sales calls of looking for financial savings, I don’t think this is a direct competitor to Mint’s offerings because it’s not based off your current finances. With Mint you provide log on details to your current financial institutions and it provides offers based on what you already have. Google Advisor simply provides a means to look up offers and apply online, without knowledge of what you currently have.
