How to get 20 free songs for Rock Band 2

October 8, 2008

Harmonix Music Systems

Image via Wikipedia

Rock Band 2 already has 84 songs (not counting any you might have purchased with RB1).

MTV Games and Harmonix has opened up a sign-up site to redeem the 20-song free offer that was originally made when RB2 was released. Buyers of RB2 will be required to enter the redemption code that is found on the back of the game manual along with their email address and date of birth.

Not sure what songs will be coming up, but hey… 20 free songs is 20 free songs!

Top 10 Best Beatboxers Of All Time

September 25, 2008

Direct from BeatAndBombs.com comes the Top 10 Best Beatboxers Of All Time. There was no doubt in my mind that Rahzel would take the crown as the guy is simply amazing. Anyway… on to the list.

Beatboxing has been around in some form for thousands years. In fact the human body was most likely the first musical instrument used in ancient African tribal ceremonies and even in the Chinese vocal art Kouji. But the true art of beatboxing didn’t really take form until the 1980s when someone made the brilliant decision to use a microphone to project their vocal beats and hip-hop music was never the same. Here we countdown the top 10 beatboxers of all time. An accomplishment made all the more significant when you realize that literally anyone born with a vocal chord has what it takes to make beats yet only these 10 can truly be called the masters of beatboxing.

How to get an invite to what.cd

June 2, 2008

logo2 How to get an invite to what.cd

Want an invite to What.cd? There are two ways of going about it… the first requires somebody who can get you an invite, the other is by hitting up the IRC channel for what.cd.

Before attempting this you need to know that what.cd is a ratio site. In other words, this ain’t PirateBay. You can’t just leech until you’re done and drop the file. You need to maintain a ratio on the site. So only try to join What.cd if you are serious about keeping a good upload/download ratio and just not going to join just to download as much as possible and not upload anything.

To join follow these steps:

Download an IRC client. I’ve used MIRC for years… give it a shot. You can download it here www.mirc.com.

Once installed join the What.cd IRC server: irc.what.cd Port 6667.
Once you have connected join the channel #what.cd-invites

DO NOT GO TO ANOTHER CHANNEL AND ASK FOR AN INVITE, YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE CHANNEL OR IGNORED

When in the channel read the instructions that are given. Type !queue into the channel and you will be added to the waiting list to be interviewed for an invite. Be patient waiting in the queue can take friggen forever, seriously… up to 4 hours or even longer. It must be worth it though, they’re serious about the people the let in.

When you get invited to an interview room you will be asked a few question about yourself, how much you know about music e.g. do you know what a FLAC file is? You might need to provide an image of your upload/download ratio of another private Bittorrent site(s). You’ll be asked to show your upload/download speed from SpeedNet So before you go to an interview room be sure to have uploaded your upload/download ratio to a personal web space, Imageshack, etc for quick access.

If they accept you and are willing to give you an invite they will ask for your email address and then they will send you an invite. Follow the instructions and you’re off to go. The process is long… but worth it.
