Best Geek Videos

October 13, 2011 by Paul Spoerry 2 Comments

Sometimes you have to take a break from the serious side of information technology and just enjoy yourself. Here’s the latest top geeky videos from around the web. These videos are mix of silly spoofs, visual demonstrations of technology in action, and wicked cool mashups… all are groovy so let your geek flag fly and move your meat in your seat! Enjoy!

Don’t hold back, just push things forward

It takes a certain kind of person to be able to do an audio mashup;  ok a certain kind of person to do a mashup and transform music into something amazing and Chris from Ithaca Audio does just that. Using the following tracks Chris produces something funky and amazing:

  • Isaac Hayes – Theme from Shaft
  • John Williams – The Imperial March
  • Leftfield – Phat Planet
  • Chemical Brothers – Galvanized
  • Sugarhill Gang – Apache (Switch Remix – A bit patchy)
  • Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • Doug Wood Band – Drag Racer (BBC Snooker Theme)
  • Daft Punk – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
  • The Streets – Push things forward

Ithaca Audio is a music composition and sound design company:

SEO PIMP Music Video – T-Money feat. Craig

From the mind of Tory McGill comes a professional looking rap video about being a SEO Pimp. For those who might not know, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it’s the “art” of understanding the way search engines index content and ensuring that your site is optimized to rank well when people search for things on the net. This is certainly the geekiest of the bunch and you might only get it if you’re an SEO Pimp.

The Geeks Will Inherit The Earth

From the upcoming album “I Fight Dragons'” by Kaboom! Comes the single, “The Geeks Will Inherit The Earth” (available as downloadable single now).

VMware Distributed Power Mgmt (DPM)

This isn’t new… but it IS geek-tastic. For VMworld 08 a team of engineers at VMware setup a demo to showcase VMware’s power management features. This demo drives a heavy, mixed workload for an eight-hour day and shows metered power usage throughout.  It’s amazing and shows just how powerful VMware can be, and it does it with a wicked  remix, by Justice, of Franz Ferdinand’s “The Fallen.”

Moves Like Jabba

Finally, what geek list can’t include SOME Star Wars reference?! Moves Like Jabba is a goofy remix of Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”. With lyrics like “No Jedi mind tricks can control him / The force bounces off his double chin / With them moves like Jabba / He’s got big boobs like Jabba / I gotta moooooooove like Jabba.” how can you possibly go wrong?

Rolling in the beats

Another by Ithica… I questioned including it since I’ve already included another of theirs but since this is both an audio AND video mashup it totally deserves to be listed. There’s so much going on in this video it’s too much to simply list… hit the youtube link below watch and listen to a 24 track mashup of pure awesome.

The “Java Life” rap

I can’t even begin to think of a way to refactor this to be any tighter.

Inbound Marketing Rap

The SEO Rapper breaks it down about inbound marketing. WARNING: The girls singing in this video are horrible, but the SEO marketing lyrics are good.

I LOVE those two! I really dig the SEO Pimp too… it’s catchy and I’ll find myself singing it in my head while I’m doing the SEO for a particular article I’m writing.
