Facebook Testing Notification Sounds

November 9, 2012 by Paul Spoerry 1 Comment

Facebook is testing ‘Notification Sounds’ that will ding every time you get a notification on the social network.

VentureBeat’s Sean Ludwig, who is part of the notification beta bloop, notes that you can switch the crap off:

You can turn them off by going into Account Settings > Notifications. Simply click “View” on the top tab and then uncheck the box that says “Play a sound when each new notification is received.”

As if Facebook could do yet one more thing to make me despise it they are not testing notification sounds. Yes, it’s as bad as it sounds… notification sounds dinging for a friend request, a comment, a like on something you wrote, etc. While it can be disabled Facebook is notorious for making their settings not particularly user friendly.
