Toolbar Cleaner – Remove Toolbars, Add-ons, and Browser Helper Objects

November 9, 2012 by Paul Spoerry Leave a Comment

Toolbar Cleaner can quickly and easily remove Toolbars, Add-ons, and Browser Helper Objects installed on accident or by malicious software.

Toolbar Cleaner (aka save my parents pc)

My dad has this thing with keeping his computer “safe”. The only problem is that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing. He is, admittedly, much more savvy than most people his age (I mean look at the kid he raised! ha!) but his quest for “safety” usually involves multiple antivirus programs and safety/anti-malware toolbars galore. This of course is not the answer and inevitably leads to a call from my mom about how slow things are and a request for help.

Toolbar Cleaner to the rescue!

Toolbar Cleaner with captionsToolbar Cleaner is a very useful application that does a great job stripping away all those crazy toolbars, add-ons, and browser helper objects (BHO’s). Most of these are installed by the user… they just don’t know it. As they install a piece of software it asks to install the toolbar to make their downloads run faster (or something like that) and the end user will install it thinking it will help. Toolbar Cleaner helps get rid of the crap from your Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome installations–including third-party toolbars, extensions/add-ons, and browser helper objects (plug-ins that modify your browser behavior and can contain malware).

One other interesting capability of Toolbar Cleaner is the removal of applications from your Windows startup folder. The startup folder contains all the applications that launches when you a computer boots. So if you ever want to see what’s in there, you can use Toolbar Cleaner and look for the Windows Startup tab and get rid of things you don’t need.

Toolbar Cleaner is easy enough that I could point my mom to the download link and she could run it herself. If you’re curious, it did in fact resolve her latest computer slowdown issues! It’s THAT EASY!

Toolbar Cleaner is free and available at ToolbarCleaner.com
