Microsoft open sources .NET, takes it to Linux and OS X
There’s yet another new Visual Studio version, too.

This is a pretty big deal if they follow through and make the entire .NET stack run on Linux and OSX. Having been living in the Java world for a while now I have to say that I think I sort-of-preferred working in the .NET world and certainly Visual Studio.

I think that's true… I also think their turning into other platforms (as opposed to their prior "we have lions market share so do it our way) has happened pretty rapidly. I've been impressed so far with how they've handled the shift and hope they keep it up.

I hope so, but I'm still blaming them for messing up with java in 1990's, I can't trust them any more.
