About Paul Spoerry

I’m a groovy cat who’s into technology, Eastern Thought, and house music. I’m a proud and dedicated father to the coolest little guy on the planet (seriously, I'm NOT biased). I’m fascinated by ninjas, the Internet, and anybody who can balance objects on their nose for long periods of time.

I have a utility belt full of programming languages and a database of all my knowledge on databases... I practice code fu. Oh, I've also done actual Kung Fu, and have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

I run. I meditate. I dance. I blog at PaulSpoerry.com, tweet @PaulSpoerry, and I'm here on Google+.

I'm currently work for IBM developing web enabled insurance applications for IBM and support and develop a non-profit called The LittleBigFund.

+Simon Cousins, bring out your inner programming-fu and write a web-crawler with your language of choice to download every ".pdf" file on that page 🙂

Already half way through the code +Mohammed S. Al Sahaf 😉

The small glitch is that they are Bit.ly links to slow down crawlers.

    I like a challenge though…

I tried to download a MS-ISO file for DVD.
The 8-files would only complete if I did them one-at-a-time.
Trying the Download-all just brought confusion.
    It still took over 12-hours.

    Its been around for years.
I have one folder of them.
I also bought the book–The complete XP.
(gave it to the public library)

    How to get them all
    1. Open FireFox (usually a Chrome guy too but in this case FF is the winner).
    2. Download this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/
    3. Go to the page
    4. Open the extension, expand  filters, deselect the filters, add 'pdf, epub' in the fast filtering, and tell it to go
    5. Enjoy all the books

Does that work if almost all of the links are Bit.ly redirects and not actual documents +Paul Spoerry ?

I didn't even look at the links, but unless they converted them to bitly links after I downloaded them then yes, it works +Simon Cousins. I have a folder full of pdf and epubs I pulled down yesterday after I posted this.
