Whats On Your Chrome Browser – My Chrome Extension Picks Of 2014
I don't know about you but I love my Chrome browser. Ever since Google+ made its debut I made the switch once I saw all the awesome extensions that were being created just for Google+. Somehow Firefox extension creators feel behind on this and slowly but sure I made the transition. Granted I didn't let go of Firefox all together right away as there were a few things Chrome couldn't do, at the time, that Firefox extensions could, such as download Youtube videos. But I quickly found a solution to that and every other reason to keep Firefox around and now it doesn't even occupy any space on my hard drive. Sorry Firefox, but Chrome swept me off my feet.
I have a ton of extensions but I will only pick my top 10 favorite extensions to share today in the hopes that you too will find them very useful. These are not exclusively Google+ related extensions, these are all around useful extension that will make your browsing experience that much better, in no particular order.
1) Extensions Manager http://goo.gl/vrB1mM
Light popup manager to enable, disable, uninstall extensions, applications and themes quickly and easy
Since this post is all about extensions I figured I'd start with an extension manager that makes it easier to enable and disable, uninstall and even get to any available options in your extensions, all from one easy dropdown menu. And if you just want to browse while using the least amount of memory possible this extension has a quick on/off toggle to enable or disable all the extensions at with one click. It has several other features but suffice it to say its a must have to manage the number of extensions and apps you may already have or eventually get.
)2 Adblock Plus http://goo.gl/lTqVa
Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more
And it does a good job at it. Definitely a must have.
3) Checker Plus for Gmail http://goo.gl/tk0aCO
Get desktop notifications, read, listen or delete emails without opening Gmail or Inbox by Gmail & easily manage multiple accounts
I use gmail quite a bit and its really nice to get desktop notifications of my emails plus be able to see them without opening the browser. It even has a voice feature that can read your emails to you. Granted its not perfect and can get annoying but still pretty cool.
4) LastPass: Free Password Manager http://goo.gl/YXwZZz
LastPass, an award-winning password manager, saves your passwords and gives you secure access from every computer and mobile device
My favorite extension of all. Not having to remember every password and not having to use easy passwords to remember is a true relief with the extension. Makes accessing my favorite websites, even with multiple accounts, a breeze.
5) Magic Actions for YouTube http://goo.gl/ji6un
Enhance your YouTube watching experience! Auto HD, Ad Block, Cinema Mode, Mouse Wheel Volume Control, Screenshot
I love this extension. Having more control over Youtube videos on my browser is awesome from pausing a video before it starts so i don't miss the beginning to loading the video while its paused, removing most Youtube video ads (a major plus, wish the Android app had this feature too) and setting the size and quality of the video to my liking.
6) Session Buddy http://goo.gl/1QCGDb
Manage Your Browser Sessions
There have been times I have accidentally closed the browser and along with it all the open tabs I had. But thanks to this extension I can reopen the browser with all the tabs I had before easy as pie. I can also save tab sessions to open another day. Definitely a must have.
7) ExtensionGoogle+ Notifications http://goo.gl/mKoSK
View notifications of Google+ activity when signed in, anywhere you go on the web
I'm a big fan of Google+ and what better way to stay on top of my notifications than an extension that shows me my notifications right on my browser even when I don't have Google+ open.
8) Post Editor for Google+ http://goo.gl/QAaAIc
Provide simple formatting assistance for Google+
This is the single greatest extension for Google+ ever made, makes editing your post to add bold letters for titles and italic letters, not to mention adding symbols as well. Thanks +Paul Spoerry for this awesome extension.
9) goo.gl URL Shortener http://goo.gl/SP4pI
Shorten url with goo.gl, the Google URL shortener, and share with many different service!
It helped make this post easier to share and figured since I like using everything Google why not use Googles own url shortener as well.
10) TechSmith Snagit (App & Extension) http://goo.gl/5o5clh & http://goo.gl/Q2C2MC
Take a screenshot, screen capture, or screen video recording. Collaborate and show what you know
This is a two for one deal. You need both the app and the extension to fully benefit from this cool screen capturing extension. Not only does it allow screen capture images and video but you can connect it to your Google drive to store the images after taken for easier access. It definitely comes in handy.
So there you have it. My top 10 extensions for Chrome in 2014. I hope these come in handy. Please share some of your favorites in the comments bellow so we can all find new extensions to add to this awesome browser.
Enjoy.
Adblockplus is good but have you tried ContentBlockHelper? < https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/contentblockhelper/ahnpejopbfnjicblkhclaaefhblgkfpd > Google Plus doesn't let us post pictures in comments yet (if Facebook can why can't G+?) so I guess you'll have to look at this link < http://s21.postimg.org/m30fdzpon/Content_Block_Helper_Chrome_Web_Store_Google_C.png >
Every time there is a new "more efficient" one I try it and end up coming back to ABP. shrug
