Holy crap they nailed this one. First of all, this is historically accurate. Secondly, it's hilarious.

What if you want to encourage the development of synthetic diamonds? Its 2014! we should be using them as common as glass by now!

This is priceless. The wife and I came to the same conclusion. The money could be better spent elsewhere!

Ya Gemesis (I think thats the name) makes synthetic diamonds that, at a certain size, are indistinguishable from real diamonds. They're not as cheap as you'd think… but still 20-30% cheaper. Then there are synthetics too; Moissanite and the others like it.

Well, the "fun" factor is that the De Bur company used to claim that the artificial ones wernt as good because they were "less pure".
They now claim they arnt as good because they are "too pure" and the imperfections make the natural ones better 😉
Honestly, I just like it for the tech factor, but I do feel sorry how they are somewhat bullied in the market.

+Carrie Taylor and I considered a Moissanite stone for her ring. But since it was a pale yellow, we realized that everyone would think it was a low-grade diamond. Explaining it all the time would have become really annoying, really fast.
Even knowing everything the video talks about, I still wanted to buy her a diamond. Damn you, societal conditioning!!
