Ben Carson – We must redouble our efforts and our resolve to resist them. Not only to contain them, but to eliminate that kind of hatred in the world

Ben Carson: U.S. should block Middle Eastern refugees after Paris attacks
Carson urged Americans to encourage lawmakers to block the Obama administration from allowing more refugees fleeing violence in the Middle East from entering the United States.

Yeah… we should redouble our efforts by making those attempting to flee terrorists have to stay there.

…..but how do we keep the ones, like those who just shot up Paris, out, while not hurting the one trying to get away from a bad situation?
I realize you can't just say, it's better to keep them all out if it prevents just one terror incident from happening, as that's the same stupidity when extremists shout, if we can save just one life, we should get rid of all guns. However, I don't know how we can keep the chaff out, with out discarding the wheat. Those who want to do us harm, are very good at hiding among the innocent (it's their MO).
…..and I ask this because I have no clue myself.

Ok……since no one wants to actually discuss the topic, and just dog pile on Dr. Carson (who, BTW, must be the first 'dumbass' and 'senseless' person who has the ability to open your skull fix the mess inside, close it back up and have his patient walk out of the hospital in the future), then let's just take a look at the queen of the DNC, shall we?
If you can tell me that Mrs. Clinton (and let's be honest, the only reason she has any political viability at all, is because she is Bill Clinton's wife. It's why I address her as Mrs. Clinton), if you can say with a straight face that Mrs. Clinton is not as big a clown (or Bigger), than anything on the Republican side, then I think, perhaps, the 'Dumbass', 'senseless' person you're seeing is in the mirror.
Now……that said, is there anyone interested in attempting to cut the Gordian Knot that I mentioned in my above comment?

Stopping refugees would do nothing to curb a terrorist from getting in. Period. That's why we shouldn't attempt to stop refugees who are fleeing. To assume that if we stopped refugees from coming that no terrorist could make it here is… silly. Why would they have to come with the refugees? They could just travel to South America and come across the border that way. Or via Canada. Or… from anywhere in the world just not with this block of refugees. Are we to assume there are so few terrorists that they would only be embedded with refugees attempting to flee?

So given that there are any number of ways for them to get here… shouldn't we act like a world power that has the means? Shouldn't we be compassionate humans who want to help those in need?

Yea……but why make it easy and help them get in. It's like a free pass (and it's legal, as opposed to border jumping).
How about the useless UN do something that it's actually meant to do, Help refugees. Set up refugee camps in the actual countries and then we have a little better control over their entry. Instead of just flinging open the gates and letting them make a mad dash, we can screen them and let the ones in who need saving, and aren't coming in to cause trouble, under the guise of victimhood.
I want to save those fleeing war and violence as much as anyone, but not at the risk of the safety of those already here.

The global Muslim population (which I assume to be the terrorists we're afraid of in this scenario) is equal to 1.6 billion people. Al-Qaeda is <10,000 (,000625%), the Taliban is 36,000 (.00225%), and ISIS is estimated to be 80,000-100,000 (.00625%). If we're going to have the following on that giant lady that sits at our front door… then we need to act like it.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Do we want to be 'the land of the free and the home of the brave' or just say it? The minute we fear doing the right thing because we fear that small percentage of people then terror has literally won.

Also… this is why we can't just ask them to go home or setup camps in their country: https://goo.gl/eYqwbp

That engraving on the Statue of Liberty, is just like the stupid motto engraved on the Post Office Building in Washington. No one asked to folks who matter if that engraving was ok. (The ' Neither rain, nor sleet…..' crap was put there by the architect because he thought it sounded good, but that schmuck never had to go out there and hump a rout, like the folks like myself did).
I also like to minimize risk. If there are 10 drunk CO-ED's at a party, all of whom want to hook up with me (well, there goes any shred of reality) and 2 of them have HIV, but there is no way to know……I'm going to be going home alone that night.
One other thing…….a little off topic. Why are Muslims screaming about France bombing an ISIS training camp? The Muslims fleeing from ISIS should be dancing in the streets and thanking France till the cows come home.

OK but we're talking about 1 billion co-eds of which less than 0.01% would be infected. That's a lot of co-eds to lump into that one group.

And I dunno about the screaming over France bombing. I haven't heard that yet.

I'll get the link to the page that had the twitter screen grabs. The page is from a site that is 100% way right-wing, so that's why he is bringing the subject up…..but it doesn't change the fact that the screen grabs are authentic (he may be 100% right-wing, but he's pretty much on the up and up).
Sorry I'm a little slow on the reply and a bit more than disorganized. Like I said before, I had to replace the hard drive, and I've spent the better part of 5 days trying to get everything to work again on my computer (like iTunes, Netflix, My home Network). It's a Pain in the A, and I'm real close to throwing the computer out the window (or throttle the next tec support person I speak with).
    ….anyway.

I'm not even taking into account the article. What Steven has to say about the situation is immaterial for the proposes of my inquiry. The twitter screen grabs stand on their own.

I know this is way off topic, but I thought you might want to see this. Here is an actual clear cut case of cops who need to be removed from their jobs, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. (and I know the d-bag was a car thief, but making the cops chase you isn't a valid excuse to play pitch and putt on a guy head:

Shit browser crashed and lost what I'd typed. Anyway. Twitter article 504'd, gateway not found. shrug

I dunno HOW he rammed the police (could mean many things) but their force was certainly out of line. Pretty quickly you can see the guy was done and at that point they should detain him… not continue to beat on him. Cops certainly have it rough… I dont know that I could do that job. But they certainly HAD him and continued to beat on him.
