Bill O’Reilly blames decline in spirituality for the deaths of WDBJ journalists

August 28, 2015 by Paul Spoerry 7 Comments

Of course, being Fox News, they left out that Flanagan himself said (in what’s believed to be his manifesto) that he was acting on the wishes of Jehovah, being a Jehovah’s Witness himself. Hey Bill… that's a religion.

At one point O'Reilly claims, "Every single murderer over 40 years that I have covered in these circumstances has been either atheistic, agnostic, no religious basis at all….. The spiritualism falls apart in the face of the jihad, okay, which is a perversion of Islam, we all know that." _Um Bill… isn't Islam a religion?_

To suggest that these mass murders are happening because we’re turning away from God is pure bullshit. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what O’Reilly’s audience thrives on.

Oh holy fuck. When will Fox News go off the air?…a few logical jumps later…yep, I'm moving to Australia.

This shooting happened because you let the gays take Jesus out of office. Jesus 2016, it's the only hope our country needs.

But… if Jesus comes back to run for office +Travis Owens doesn't that mean the end of the world?

sounds like a good reason to shun any politician that claims to be on a mission of god

What's good enough for Belushi and Aykroyd, is good enough for me. 😛

….oh yeah, and to be fair to Mr. Oliver, Bill O'Reilly is an even bigger hack (and I'm pretty sure Mr. Oliver is a much nicer person in general than old Bill).

To be fair and/or pay devil's advocate, O'Reilly called jihad "a perversion of Islam," meaning that it's not in line with truly Muslim beliefs. One could certainly dispute the accuracy of that claim, but that bit is logically consistent. Additionally, I doubt most Jehovah's Witnesses would support Flanagan's claim that he was acting on God's wishes.

Don't hear what I'm not saying: I don't think spirituality has anything to do with this tragedy. This is a race thing, not a spirituality thing. However, no one should be anything more than mildly surprised. When you ask Bill O'Reilly, a conservative commentator, what his opinion is (which is what Fox News does every time they film his show), you're going to get a conservative opinion. The converse is also true: ask a liberal commentator for his/her opinion, and you'll get a liberal viewpoint. To expect anything different would ignore inductive reason.

+West Kagle This article pretty much confirmed everything I thought about Bill: http://www.salon.com/2013/05/29/i_was_a_liberal_mole_at_fox_news_from_bill_oreilly_to_roger_ailes_heres_all_the_inside_dope/.

In short, he's intelligent, controlling, his show is so formulaic it was compared to pro-wrestling, etc.
