The world’s second-largest gem quality diamond has been discovered in Botswana, the Lucara Diamond firm says.
I actually don't know anything about the Kardashians… I assume they're into diamonds and if so this one is a MASSIVE 1,111 carats. That’s 7.8 ounces of raw, unadulterated bling, that measures 65 x 56 x 40 millimeters. It's second only to the Cullinan Diamond which was an even more massive 3,106-carats—about 1.4 pounds!
The article title is a little unclear. Is it the 2nd largest diamond ever found, or ever found in Botswana? I'm guessing that it's the 2nd largest uncut diamond, and that the uncut rock that the Hope Diamond was carved from is still the largest ever found.
I figure that the Hope Diamond is still the biggest. The hope diamond isn't the 'clear' colour type though (the average person might not even think it was a diamond, and mistake it for a sapphire because of it's blue hue). This is the biggest of the type that the average person thinks of when they think diamonds.
I'd like to know it's carat weight (or their carat weights, if it is made into more than one gem), once it's cut, and where on the list of cut stones it, or they will fall.
