Google+ is dead, teens are fleeing Facebook

April 9, 2015 by Paul Spoerry 4 Comments

Oh… except that they're not. According to the latest Pew study 71% of teens in the US use Facebook, and one third of US teens use Google+.

One third of US teens 13-17 use Google+.

Google+ usage among US teens aged 13 to 17 is equal to Twitter — 33% — and far higher than either Vine or Tumblr.

I can tell GPlus is gaining in popularity. I have been blocking more and more people. I think it's getting time for me to leave GPlus.

Tumblr's core population is mid 20s to mid 30s I think, and 60%+ female.

I don't see teenagers much in the regular G+ stream but I do see a lot of them in communities.

I think I really under-utilize communities here. That sounds spot on for Tumblr… I also find it odd Pinterestis missing from the list… tho if this was focused on teens it might not be that applicable. Now, for the 20+ set I bet Pinterest would rank crazy high on female usage.
