I would say 90s techno already qualifies for this term
exactly +Travis Owens
Lol
+Travis Owens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5BkZsXmJIQ was already sorta classical in '91!
I've been listening to a lot of Backspin on XM (http://www.siriusxm.com/backspin). The other day I was driving home and it hit me… that I had become my father…. that I had an oldies station. head slam
+Paul Spoerry that moment when you realize techno/rave is now 25yrs old (actually 28 as that's when the first 808 State album came out, which truly defined the genre).
Actually, "techno" (the term) "stuck" when it was used by 3 DJ's in Detroit (I have a whole book on the history). Happened, about a year before 808 state blew up… though you could argue that 808 gained more mainstream popularity in the early days.

I prefer to sick with who made it famous/popular as you can take anything and argue forever who invented something.
Ex: Ford didn't invent cars but until he made them affordable nobody owned them.
