Netflix Is About to Be Bigger Than ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox
Well, we saw this coming: The explosive, cord-cutting popularity of Netflix will finally torch the laurels of traditional broadcast television networks. Analysts predict that if Netflix were measured as a 24-hour station by Nielsen, it would have more viewers than ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
If Netflix were a Nielsen-rated TV network, the No. 1 streaming service would, within a year, attain a larger 24-hour audience than each of the major broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — according to a Wall Street analyst firm.
Wow! This is rather incredible considering where they were just four of five years ago. Remember the rate hike catastrophe?
I rarely watch the regular channels anymore. Netflix has interesting series and shows from around the world (big fan of the Swedish, Norwegian and British shows) and some great documentaries. Finding myself not interested in the rather boring or (un)reality based junk. Still watching PBS, MSNBC, and CNN (less and less CNN).
+Tessa Keough less and less CNN? How do you catch up on your news?
I am going to articles through Bing News – I have the Huffington Post, NY Times, Washington Post, Seattle Times and Portland Oregonian, Wall Street Journal, Irish Times, and a couple other papers selected and I scroll through articles. CNN continues to beat the same story to death hour after hour. I find PBS Newshour and Washington Week in Review thoughtful. Tired of "noise" from many sides.
I cut the cord several years back. Any shows we want to watch we do via Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon Prime.
I have no cable. Netflix + web all the way for me.
