New Study Proves That Fox News Makes You Stupid

Did we really need a study for that though? Another study, this time by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, shows just how out of touch Fox News viewers are (maybe it's because Fox has an agenda?!). Here is a list of what Fox News viewers believe:

91% believe that the stimulus legislation lost jobs.
72% believe that the health reform law will increase the deficit.
72% believe that the economy is getting worse.
60% believe that climate change is not occurring.
49% believe that income taxes have gone up.
63% believe that the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts.
56% believe that Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout.
38% believe that most Republicans opposed TARP.
63% believe that Obama was not born in the US (or that it is unclear).

    Statistically the average IQ of any population is 100 and, by definition, that means 50% is made up of people with an IQ 100 and above and 50% is made up of people with an IQ 100 and below.

    The 50% with a higher IQ are individuals with opinions and they are motivated by reason. They’re a much tougher crowd to convince.

    The 50% with a lower IQ are easily lumped into focus groups and they are not so much motivated as they are easily amused. They are sheeple who watch cat videos.

    If you’re Ol’ Rupe and you just want to make the maximum amount of money, you don’t go for the argumentative intelligent pricks who are hard to convince, (and want to hear reasonable, reasoned reports about why their Lexus’s are different than their BMWs so they can make up their own minds about their choices,) you go for the idiots who just plotz out in front on the boob tube, because thinking hurts their weak, unprepared brains. (They aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer but they are still holding down some form of menial, undemanding jobs for near minimum wage.)

    They’re not in the market for Maserati*s or *Rolls Royces. They’re in the market for cheap effort-saving gadgets that they put in a kitchen drawer and forget because its more work that its worth, its cheaply made crap, its ugly its complicated, or some combination of the four.

    Guess what?     1. Obama's birth is unclear because the birth certificate is doctored because anybody with a PDF editor can see there are layers and overlays, but it's an irrelevant point. I believe he was born on US soil and there's simply no birth certif available.

    2. Also taxes have gone up if you include the fact that ACA is a tax.

    The rest of it is classic Fox News propaganda

    The Hawaii Secretary of State is the final authority on the validity of state documents like birth certificates. There is no higher authority.

  22. Very, very old article (2010) from an opinion source. Latter studies have shown FOX viewers to be better informed than anyone else. A more recent study stated, for instance, that the number of job saved/created by the stimulus was between 0.5 and 1.5 million, equaling about $4 million spent per job saved/created. And talking about how obamacare is going to affect the deficit is hogwash. The effect of that program will be on debt, not deficit.

  201. Well, +Trevor Marsh , where I came into this discussion was Paul saying you can't prove there is a God. I merely stated that you can't prove there isn't one, either. And asked what his proof of no God was. I've gotten several bogus arguments in this discussion.

    One says that the onus is on me to prove there is a God. Though I believe there is a God, I never stated.so. I merely asked what Paul's proof was. If the nonexistence of a god (or God) were fact, there'd be proof. That's the scientific method. I merely asked for Paul's proof and got none. Just that it was my responsibility to prove him wrong. No it's not. Bogus.

    I suggested that science does not back something coming out of nothing. Paul said there is such a theory, to which I responded that it was a theory, but not the only one. In reality, Einstein (who is smarter than anyone I've seen in this discussion, myself included) said that real science speaks of an uncaused cause, which he said was God.

    My final thought. It's clear that no one in this discussion (again, myself included) knows or recalls enough to properly argue one side or the other. It's just lame to make a statement, not prove it, then claim it was someone else's responsibility to disprove what you said. All that says is that you don't know enough to prove your point, so you're hoping your opponent in the discussion would be equally unknowledgeable. Remember that Hitchens and Dawkins, two more people obviously brighter than those of us here, were unafraid to argue their points. That's not true here.

    I admit I believe there's a God, but I didn't argue that there was. I asked Paul for his proof that there wasn't. If I had come to this discussion as an agnostic or atheist and asked Paul why he agreed with me, would I still have been asked to prove there is a God? That argument is a bogus way of avoiding stating that, while he came to a conclusion, he has no proof or it's been long enough that he's forgotten the proofs. Had he been honest enough about that, it would have been a fun discussion that we all would have enjoyed. Since it took three of you to say the same false thing to me, I obviously am the only one who has enjoyed this.

    I'll openly admit that it's been a long time since I've read up on the arguments about whether there is or is not a God. So, had we actually gotten into that, someone here likely would have had me. Which has me ready to go back and refresh myself on the subject. Since no one discussing with me has done their job, either, I'd suggest the same course of action for you three, as well.

  202. The bigger point is God doesn't explain anything. With or without a diety the mystery of how the universe got started remains. It is no more simple an explanation to say "God did it" because that infers that somehow God is allowed to "just exist' – and if God is allowed to "just exist" at the start without explanation then pretty much anything is.
    The absence of an explanation for the existence of the universe does not work as proof – or even evidence towards – being a god (or gods). its simply a unknown.
    Even if we postulate a god or god-like enity exists in a higher reality and "codes" the universe on some sort of universe-making machine that we exist in, then there would still be the question of where that higher reality came from.
    Or, to put it another way "its turtles all the way down"

They had a Terrorism Expert, Steven Emerson, who claimed that Birmingham, UK is totally Muslim and non-Muslims don't go there. He went so far as to say that in these no go zones if you don't conform to their laws you'll be beaten and the regular police don't do anything about it. Now, he was the one making these claims but to say that the spokewoman didn't set it up and then completely go along with it would be BS. That or she and her team did zero research because she goes right along with the "no go zone" thing and was even asking how they get them back.

There were more Eastern Europeans,Asians, and Middle Eastern Europeans than English in whole parts of the city. I have also been to Germany and Italy. If you think that Europe, including the U.K. doesn't have an immigration and assimilation problem, then I suggest you visit these nations and see for yourself.
