Thrand, Eldgrimr and Marquez devise a test to see if the new Cross-guard Lightsaber from the New Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens Official Teaser Trailer by J.J. Abrams is dangerous to the wielder or the opponent. They test the quillons or cross-guard out by covering it in thick paint and use it to see if it cuts the user or can be used as a weapon! They give credit to von Puch TV for giving them the idea as well. Be sure go by and check out von Puch's video channel and subscribe as well. So set back grab an Ale or Mead wile Thrand. Eldgrmr and Marquez test out the new cross-guarded Lightsaber to see how dangerous it really is and if it is to the wielder or the opponent!

My main argument is that any block (against another lightsaber) which slid down the saber to the crossguard would cut right through the guard and through the users hand. It may have some utility as an added attack option but as a crossguard it's useless.
I can't wait for the next movie!
Of course its dangerous! So is a regular
lightsaber! Its only feasible that a dark
jedi would have a gnarlier more dangerous
weapon
Sounds serious
<3 debating real fight mechanics with imaginary weapons.
+Smitticus Matticus has the best response I've heard so far!
better to go with a photon gun………
thats dumb
it's great because often times the CG isn't even finished when movie trailers are released. it's quite likely this lightsaber will appear differently in the theatrical release
1. That's kinda cool.
2. The idea of a crossbar is good, but the emitters should come directly out of the sides and there should be a smaller bar under the other one.
3. You have gross hair, dude.
+Glenn Dufresne Agreed!
Jedi have to train for years just to hansle a lightsaber. They just dont hand em out like laser pistols. Its freaking dangerous and takes special skills!
I don't know why people think its supposed to be just like a sword. It doesn't have weight like a sword its a special skill that you need to master the force to use
Did we ever figure out what the light is and how it just stops 4 feet out?
+Jason Honingford Force field (or some similar)
+Glenn Dufresne No the European design (with quillons) is better. The hilt is (probably) specially treated so a lightsaber couldn't cut through it.
+Glenn Dufresne lightsabers can't sunder other lightsabers i.e. the energy. Therefore if sundered it would have to be below the guard and at the grip. The only lightsaber sundered canonically darth maul, and Obi-Wan, when obi-wan strikes the grip splitting the staff into one useable weapon.
Really it is not hard to understand or fathom if you know lightsaber building 101
Also if you know star wars i.e. new hope when Obi-Wan explains to luke what a lightsaber is even if you dont know the mechanics you should at least know that to comment
+Glenn Dufresne
Yes but in the Lore there are materials that lightsabers cannot cut through. Plus its more likely he is using it for the novelty or intimidation factor, or as a special maneuver he uses. Always hard to win any argument about imaginary things, just keep making stuff up. Real world doesn't always apply.
It's an exhaust for an overpowered light saber.
Kinda of dangerous
Pfff, I'll take a cortosis weave cross guard any day.
Everybody is talking about the opponent, but what about the wielders options? I would argue those cross guards may seriously impair his technique. But hey, it's a movie……..
Naaah
My vids are better
+Dartik24 plays minecraft no they arent
I'm sorry, but you look so stupid when you were swinging the sword. It was hilarious.
well the lightsaber color depends on the crystal used as a emitter…
it is a fucking movie who cares wow lol
IK
How does the empire come back in this movie?
I dunno
+Justin Robinson Think they still exist but more on even level with the Rebels or Republic.
Nathan yeah they are bitch
+Dartik24 plays minecraft Your statement doesn't even make sense.
+Nathan Mckee I know was like what? How do I reply to this 😛
None of it does they are not real neither is the movie. Everyone realizes this right
My videos are 100%better
😡😡😡😡😡
+Dartik24 plays minecraft nope
+Erin Schierling Is it difficult for you to read? This movie is happening, and the trailer is real.
The thing people are missing with all this crossguard debate (i.e. vs swords) is that light sabres have no weight, unlike a massive steel sword piling down on you so the pressure in defence wouldn't force it into your hand. Just my opinion mind, and I own a few swords
Crossguard: Random SciFi junk. This film is going to be really stupid, I think.
I still think the laser is thinner than the lightsaber hilt..which is indeed awkward O_o
Watch the colbert report regarding this is genius. The metal is to protect the wielder however the beam actually refracted into three prongs through the crystal itself. Based on his theory. Not a bad explanation.
hahah super heroo distrik
Don't know if you know this. (spoiler), but light sabres don't really exist.
+Adey Pexman-Cock Well they are working on the tech http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/09/29/mit-harvard-scientists-accidentally-create-real-life-lightsaber/
what would happen if u drop it will it go through te planet
The blade has no mass so it would fall hilt first
+Glenn Dufresne if the blade has no mass, then it won't affect the hilt at all when dropping. It could drop and spin any way depending on how it was released.
The blade has no mass, but still has some resistance to passing through materials.
I love how everyone thinks they are experts on something they saw a three second clip of
Without any context of the rest of the film at all. Such haters
If you decide its gonna be lame before the movie thats gonna be the attitude you tale into the movie you might as well just skip it.
No hatin, just playin.
a hans solo choice…….
Well discussions one thing it just seems a lot of people like to jump to negative conclusions based on a three second clip. Not really very good critical thinking a lot of it
I guess social media is the home of people wanting to whine cause they had a bad night
If they let one damn dumb thing in, I question the rest of the film.
But how do you know if its dumb till you see the whole film? Just because on thing in the preview that doesn't make a bunch of sense yet.
People just wanna jump up and say the movie sucks and they haven't even seen five minutes yet
Ive never seen a movie that had nothing dumb in it either
AWWWW I want to see some killing!
i kinda agree you would slice your hand off before u attack
That's why there would be a V half pipe cover. Like techie. Of course super heat resistant material
NERDS !
+Dar Dup LOL
Lol
Or have high tech gloves so your ass doesn't get skywalkered.. Or I guess he got the han job a the hut
Of maybe the saber itself is just made from lightsaber proof material and would the sword hand guard would work just fine. I mean thats what i would do if i built it. Theres no evidence of a design flaw
Nice video Uncle Rico
+clic clac pow LOL Uncle Rico have you seen the viewer reply?
Star Wars: Episode VII Lightsaber Crossguard Tested – Is It Dangerous? Viewer Reply!
http://youtu.be/wheoetJXv3U
+Dave Eilbacher lol
never take a saber to a blaster fight…….
agreed
+Glenn Dufresne
Agreed. Unless the cross guards can somehow be directly fused to the main blade.
+West Kagle They may be a T shape and split from main beam? The shrouds or emitters can be made from lightsaber resistant materials as well like Phrik, Maladolarian Iron, Ultra Chrome, Cortosis ,Cortosis weave ect the list goes on just Google lightsaber resistant materials the list goes on.
+Justin Robinson
I know the movie doesn't take into account the books written about events that take place after 'Jedi', but in the books, the Empire hasn't been completely obliterated. What's left after the Battle of Endor, is called the Imperial Remnant, and is controlled mostly by the Moffs.
+West Kagle Very true but they have had some resistant materials or seem to appear in the actual movies.
+ThegnThrand
Yes. In the books, the metal that makes up Boba Fett's armor is suppose to be light saber resistant. I think it's called Beskar (Mandalorian iron).
+West Kagle Yes that is correct
Yes just because the Emperor was defeated and the death star ii destroyed with Darth vader and his ship doesn't mean the vast empire just disappears. There is always a new ruler to take over those who are waiting to blindly follow another.(
+Smitticus Matticus
Very true in some story line the Emperor had clones made.
