Ted Cruz on Twitter: “Sadly, removal of a similar #TenCommandments monument from OK Capitol is latest chapter in an ongoing assault on religious liberty in the US”
@tedcruz what kind of country do we want? It’s all up to us…a country that turns it’s back on God will see God turn His back on them. Dr Hugo Hackenbush · 2h2 hours ago. Dr Hugo Hackenbush @MangyLover. @tedcruz Here’s another photograph. pic.twitter.com/ItYNNjODYn …
What's really sad is that he fails to comprehend that 'religious liberty' doesn't mean he gets to impose HIS version of religion on others.
This is not an assault on religious liberty. The First Amendment and subsequent court rulings regarding separation of church and state make it pretty clear that government cannot promote any particular religion. Putting the religious dogma of Christianity on display in front of government buildings does just that. Taking the display down doesn’t hurt Christianity; it protects the religious liberty of everyone else through parity.
For a man who prides himself on defending the constitution, he seems perfectly willing to ignore it when it suits his needs.

Generally Ive thought Cruz to be able to compartmentalize his religion from his views on the Constitution. For a self proclaimed Conversationalist, Im surprised that he does not side on the removal of religious symbols from government property
I've never gotten that impression. He's always come off as someone who would put the bible before the Constitution at any given chance. Either way though… having the 10 Commandments on government property is a promotion of a particular religion and shouldn't be allowed.

I agree about Mr. Cruz. It's the main reason that he's not in my top 3 candidate choices.
