"But we thought we’d take a deeper look. Of course guns kill more people than terrorists. A lot of things kill more people than terrorists, and heart disease is far and away the biggest killer. But the government’s priorities on funding preventative measures don’t always correspond with the country’s biggest threats."

Guns Kill More Americans Than Terrorists Do

And drunk drivers killed thousands more than that. Where's the call to require mandatory breathalyzer interlocks on all vehicles, for every driver, regardless of past history?
I have no problem with mandatory breathalyzer interlocks. As a matter of fact I'd welcome it. It would save me the trouble of making that judgment (although my drinking days are far behind me, you never know.)
BTW…….how about if you include the number of people from all countries that terrorists have killed. What kind of figures would there be then? Just a thought.
….Oh yeah. One other thing……the guns didn't kill anyone, the people wielding the guns did the killing. Just like the cars didn't kill all the people, the drunks behind the wheels of them did (which is why we don't blame the cars, or try to ban them).
+Paul Wolfe Guns are made for killing. Cars are made for driving. So they're not even the same thing. That said, breathalyzers aren't a bad idea. Recent reports are showing, particularly for young people, that more are dying by guns than by cars: http://www.forbes.com/sites/dandiamond/2015/08/26/americas-gun-violence-problem-in-three-charts/

Also, many cities DO have plans for reducing the number of deaths inflicted by cars: http://gizmodo.com/gun-violence-now-kills-as-many-americans-as-cars-so-wh-1734324078
+West Kagle It's true that it's the person who wields it is the one causing the death but you simply cannot deny that firearms make it FAR easier to accomplish and allow you to kill more people more quickly. You could use a knife to kill someone… or a bomb… but how many of those mass killings are we having versus mass killings with guns?
People kill people. …not guns…I agree, guns are made for killing. ..but also, guns are made to defend yourself and family..

I take it this is about the recent shooting?
….and I have to ask, where did it take place? Of course, I know where, it was another 'safe' gun free zone. They all happen in these places. I say scrap these gun free zones, and replace the signs announcing the presence of a hunting reserve, with signs that say something like, 'staff is heavily armed and trained, any attempt to harm children will be met with deadly force'.
+West Kagle So the answer to the gun problem is… more guns? Take out mass shootings from the picture and just think of the number of accidents that would increase. It's seriously not a logical proposition that more guns would equal less gun deaths.
+Steve DeGregorio Sure sure… except that people aren't actually very good at defending themselves with firearms. And to ignore recent, and all to frequently occurring events, is just sticking your head in the sand.
You're correct.. Example Obama just ignoring this man.. No invite for him.. Smh http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/02/forget-oregon-s-gunman-remember-the-hero-who-charged-straight-at-him.html and him and all the others ignoring that family plays a huge part in this problem.. Fatherless shooter..

I'm saying I want armed (and trained) guards at our schools. Obviously 'Gun Free Zones' don't do squat, and announcing that there's no chance to run into a person carrying a gun at a specific location is like telling a lunatic, this is the best place to loose your mind and go people hunting.
+West Kagle That sounds like a weird slippery slope to a police state. If we put them at schools they then go to… malls? So we put them at schools and malls and then they go to… etc etc etc. I DO hear what you're saying and in places where mandatory military service is couples with lots of firearms there are less incidents like this. So there is something to having to undergo training that has an impact on this sort of thing. I just dislike the more guns to solve the guns direction. I mean we put TSA all over every airport and look how effective that is (as in… it's not at all effective).
+Paul Spoerry
I really don't care about protecting anything else. I just want our children to have a place to learn that's also an actual safe zone (not this illusionary 'safe' gun free crud.
…..and the TSA is a joke.
I use mine to protect my family.. Always have always will..
Wow. How many times have you had to stop an armed assailant +Steve DeGregorio ?
+Paul Spoerry
All the time.
