WOW this is… priceless. Upset about risque lyrics on a pop station she decides the best action is to read the lyrics to Vince Staples‘ “Norf Norf” out loud on YouTube. She proceeds to cry and long for the good old days when no one ever sang explicit songs.
The best part is she says, “I remember listening to the top hits as a kid,” she says. “You know Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, and N’SYNC. Those were the top hits when I was a kid. Nowadays it’s not the same, not the same at all.”
Um… ever listen to the lyrics to Britney's "Toxic" or Christina Aguilera‘s “Dirrty”. Idiot. What would happen if she were to hear Nicki Minaj‘s “Anaconda"?! Did she forget that "Nelly went diamond singing about drivebys and Eminem violently murdered his wife on wax". All of those were played on Top 40.
She also misses the point of the song. Vince Staples isn't simply glorifying street life in his music. "He might rap about guns and gangs, but he doesn’t romanticize them. Songs like “Norf Norf” highlight Vince’s cold, hard outlook on the realities he faced growing up in Long Beach." (https://goo.gl/Zhb3Cf).
