Yeah so these two decide to each a Carolina Reaper. First of all… it's pretty dumb to just bite a chunk of one of these suckers. The Reaper is ranked as the hottest pepper in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. They guy who grows them refers to them as “weapon quality peppers." They clock in at 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). For comparison, a Jalapeno ranks between 3,500 to 10,000 SHU's.
These girls should have done the smallest bit of research and they wouldn't have known NOT to try to reduce the heat with water. That's only spreads the heat! Capsaicin (the part bringin' the fire) is a non-polar molecule and dissolves in other non-polar molecules. So drinking something like milk, which contains non-polar molecules, will give you relief. It's why Indian and Thai cuisine incorporate dairy. Sugar helps as does honey. They don't actually counteract it but they stop the pain portion. Water (beer, soda, etc – which are mostly water) is a polar substance and it will just spread the capsaicin and the heat.
