J.K. Rowling shares powerful message about Donald Trump … and those who oppose him
“I find almost everything that Mr. Trump says objectionable.”
I may have never gotten into the Potter series but I ADORE THIS WOMAN. In a speech made at the 2016 PEN Literary Awards Gala on Monday night, Rowling called out presidential candidate Donald Trump for intolerance and hateful speech (and she wasn't the only one).
Here's some of the highlights: "I find almost everything that Mr. Trump says objectionable," Rowling said. "I consider him offensive and bigoted.
But he has my full support to come to my country and be offensive and bigoted there," addressing a petition started to ban Donald Trump from entering the UK.
"If my offended feelings can constitute a travel ban on Donald Trump, I have no moral grounds on which to argue that those offended by feminism or the fight for transgender rights or universal suffrage should not oppress campaigners for those causes. If you seek the removal of freedoms from an opponent simply on the grounds that they have offended you, you have crossed a line to stand along tyrants who imprison, torture and kill on exactly the same justification."

I agree that Trump has a right to be offensive and bigoted, but let's not pretend that Trump himself respects other people's rights. He would stomp them if he thought they were in his way, like that Muslim woman who silently protested.

Out of Trump and Hillary Trump is the obvious better choice. And I can give reasons, first, Trump will lower taxes on the middle class (you know, most of America), second trump will make it harder to illegally cross the border (lower illegal immigration and raise legal immigration and work visas), he won't make it harder to purchase forearms (an obvious plus from the south, where most hunters and fisherman are), and the Republicans oppose the tpp, and I oppose the tpp so that answers that one.

Trump will raise taxes on the middle-class once his plans fall apart and they will. All he has done is make fancy promises and being unable to explain how he's going to make it happen.

A travel ban? And what if he did get elected? You'd feel pretty stupid. Mind your books lady.

The obvious choice is Bernie not flip flops.
The Shadow Devil Slayer says
+buhe1 he said he'd lower taxes on the lower and middle class and make up for it by raising them on the upper class, he has a plan to make up for it.

He'll take it back. He always does. Most promises he makes he pretends it never happened. He once said the working force was already being paid too much and now he says he supports raising the wage, but as long as he feels that he doesn't need to keep his so called promises, he won't.
uh wot says
+buhe1 idkno. the world suffers from a Islamic jihadist problem to say it does not exist or that the world is safe from terrorisms reach only would mean terrorists could channel into it and it brings me to the notion that liberalism plays into terrorism by pretending it does not exist when its amassing and hoping it will just go away. there are stream flows from a region that is a terrorist hub and deep in holy war and you want to think that terrorists can't infiltrate that stream flow? you would be part of the problem. and why I support Donald Trump 100% he has the guts and mindset to approach America and in greater scope the world about this plan. it's a temporary ban it's for security reasons. the ban like the wall is justified it's why it's so openly challenged. Donald Trump doesn't hate Muslims or Mexicans or Chinese in fact he wants to protect them from radical Islam. would you rather have him fund terrorism to fight terrorism like what Obama is doing? also Trump is a very well respected man it's just the liberal media taking his words and twisting them. remember like he reminds all of us that he had 17 opponents he had to be aggressive and sharp even if it was being a total madman who is crude and rude if he wanted secure a win.

Trump bragged on how he would have shot at terrorists at the Paris attacks, if he was there, which shows how lacking in seriousness he has with these things and his tolerance for the minority is limited to whether or not they "know their place" and he hates Obama because he became higher then him on the food chain, not to mention the president is the real thing compared to Trump, and deep down inside Trump knows it which explains the childish tantrums.
Trump is good at making promises, but very "very" bad at keeping them. His record shows it.
Paul Spoerry says
Wow. I'm baffled. Nobody said terrorism doesn't exist. What's small minded is to classify an entire group of people based on the action of a few. That doesn't mean you turn a blind eye to those who are terrorist…
Although the Constitution of the United States does not cite it explicitly, presumption of innocence is widely held to follow from the 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments. It is also regarded as an international human right under the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presumption_of_innocence
Thomas Wrobel says
I thought the point was Trump wanted to ban travel to his country if you were of a certain religion. It wasn't just "he offended people" it was that people wanted to ironically ban him from their country.
Not that I necessarily agree with "stooping to his level" either, but I think it goes a bit beyond offence.
Paul Spoerry says
+Thomas Wrobel It's actually more funny than that… U.K. Parliament did in fact meet to discuss a ban on Trump but decided that would make them just like him. So they decided against it. Instead they spent three hours doing what was essentially a British roast of Trump (it was basically the most polite roast in history).

Paul Spoerry says
Wow… excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation +Red Hawk. Additionally, your comment provided absolutely nothing of any substance.
Red Hawk says
My Grammer was intentional..
As far as substance…..lol said what I had to say Hillary is a criminal!
Red Hawk says
A coward and a liar as is YOUR president
Red Hawk says
Dumbo crat ic… rediculus. ..pathetic
Thomas Wrobel says
"My Grammer was intentional.."
Your spelling too I assume?
Basically, everything you say or do wrong is intentional right?
Paul Spoerry says
+Red Hawk "My Grammer was intentional.." – HAHAHAHA dude it's "grammar", with a lowercase "g".
"Hillary is a criminal!" says absolutely nothing but to display you lack any substance. Cite a source or make a coherent statement not just a juvenile statement and maybe you can sit at the adult table and actually contribute to a conversation.
