Magnetic mind control works in live animals, makes mice happy
Using a magnet, researchers remotely control brain circuitry, alter behavior.
Using a magnet and an engineered magnet-responsive ion channel (resulting hybrid protein, dubbed Magneto), researchers could remotely control brain circuitry and alter behavior.
When altered to make Magneto active in cells that are responsive to dopamine the researchers could get mice to prefer an area of a chamber with a magnetic field. Yup… magnetic mind control.
