OpenOffice, after years of neglect, could shut down
As LibreOffice soars, OpenOffice management considers retiring the project.
Good riddance IMHO. When I worked for a certain big blue companies they tried forcing it on us and it was a disaster. Many of us just used Libre and the rest prayed we could get back to MS Office. The reality is that for most Google Docs and the other equivs handle what most users need anyway. In the end… Oracle touched it so you know something had to go wrong.

Am I the only person seriously wondering that Oracle buys out products to shut them down innuendos? Can anybody name something they bought and it started the same in popularity or got better?
Paul Spoerry says
I can't think of a single thing. I've heard Oracle referred to as having the Anti-Midas Touch.
