How Donald Trump profits by keeping his home base in Trump Tower
From taxpayers to Trump’s pockets
Using taxpayer money for the housing of Secret Service agents and other authorities during presidential ventures away from the White House isn't new; presidents from both parties have incurred such costs. And staying in Trump tower could save the government money in hotel bookings.
But the big deal with Trump is that the taxpayer money will be going directly to Trump himself, meaning he will profit off of that money spent on security.
DONALD J TRUMP OUR COUNTRY PRESIDENT IS GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN….
DRAIN THE SWAMP
Who cares.Never have i seen so much negativity. Soon we will hear what kind of toothpaste he uses and how he eats his eggs in the morning.
Draining the swamp… in to his own back pocket.
* Draining the swamp by hiring Washington/industry insiders – contrary to what he ran on.
* Who cares? You'd think all those Republicans who've been bitching about wanting a smaller government would care. But they've already proven to be hypocrites time and time again so no surprise there.
+Paul Spoerry He's obviously going to need people from Washington to get anything done, you can't just knock off everyone, you would have no one to replace them.
+Ashleigh Yeah no kidding. I know that… but that's not what he promised to do. He ran on a platform of getting rid of Washington insiders, special interest groups, and lobbyists. Now… with very few exceptions (like Bannon) it's exactly those people that he's putting into positions of power.
For example… he appointed as his chief of staff Reince Priebus, who by the very nature of his previous role as Republican National Committee chairman is the epitome of the Republican establishment in Washington.
Jeffrey Eisenach, a consultant who has worked for years on behalf of Verizon and other telecommunications clients, is the head of the team that is helping to pick staff members at the Federal Communications Commission.
Michael Catanzaro, a lobbyist whose clients include Devon Energy and Encana Oil and Gas, holds the “energy independence” portfolio.
Michael Torrey, a lobbyist who runs a firm that has earned millions of dollars helping food industry players such as the American Beverage Association and the dairy giant Dean Foods, is helping set up the new team at the Department of Agriculture.
+Paul Spoerry He doesn't have much of a choice, if he does what Jimmy Carter did and try to run the government alone, he will fail. Most of the people Trump chose are his friends and what not, he needs folks to work with, to get anything done. And overall I'm pretty happy with it, a much needed refreshment from the Obama Administration. We'll see how he does in office, but God willing he will do well.
So Trump's campaign promises weren't the reason to support him after all.
+Ashleigh Of course he has a choice. He could do what he said and not rely on those types of people. Again, I know he would need Washington insiders but that's not what he campaigned on.
So either HE was stupid for believing he could run the country without political insiders (and lobbyists), or he knew all along and his supporters are stupid for having believed him.
These are not all his friends. That's factually inaccurate. Many he'd never met before.
"And overall I'm pretty happy with it, a much needed refreshment from the Obama Administration." – You're happy that he's not even in office and going back on his campaign promises? rolling eyes
"…but God willing he will do well." I'm an atheist so not only is that type of statement ineffectual but it's also offensive.
+Paul Spoerry What person running for office keeps their promises??? Omg you're funny 😂
Don't tell that to the guys with the red caps who cry "lock her up" and "drain the swamp" while waiting eagerly for their jobs to return from offshore cheap labor markets.
Lulz indeed.
