Ads are coming to Facebook Messenger

This Is What Facebook’s Messenger Ads Look Like, and How to Avoid Them
A few months ago, Facebook announced its plans to start showing ads in Messenger. Now, we’ve got a glimpse at what they’ll look like. They’re huge and obnoxious. The moral of the story: never message brands.

Facebook is bringing ads to Messenger and holy cow are the HUUUUGE. The ads will appear in a module below your conversations list and they'll be pretty massive.

Fortunately, it should be easy to avoid seeing ads – just don't interact with a company or brand through Messenger. Facebook will only show the sponsored message section if you start a conversation with a company or brand first. So at least for now you should be able to avoid them by simply not chatting up a company (do people really do that?).
