Facebook's fake news solution rolling out

March 4, 2017 by Paul Spoerry 8 Comments

Facebook has quietly rolled out its long-awaited solution to fake news
Look out for news marked as ‘disputed.’

I mean according to them they didn't have a fake news problem but… well… they're implementing a fix for one. the tool identifies links to sites known to produce misinformation. The tool cites third-party fact-checking organizations like Snopes and Politifact—the kind of sites that Trump supporters also like to dispute—and you'll see it indicate the content was disputed by those organizations.

There is no undisputed news or unbiased fact checkers. The ambient toxicity of politics and the media has been growing for some time but has now reached the adequate parts per million as to cause instant death to any thoughtful discussion or exchange of ideas.
