“I would like to apologize for saying that children in America should have health care. It was insensitive, it was offensive, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me." – and no… he wasn't serious.
Kimmel had US Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana on his show as well last night to discuss the future of health care in America. Cassidy had said that any health care reforms that are put forward now have to pass the “Jimmy Kimmel Test.”
“Since I am Jimmy Kimmel, I’d like to make a suggestion as to what the Jimmy Kimmel test should be. I’ll keep it simple,” Kimmel told Cassidy. “The Jimmy Kimmel test I think should be, no family should be denied medical care, emergency or otherwise, because they can’t afford it.”
“Hey man, you’re on the right track. But we’ve gotta be able to pay for it,” Cassidy said.
Kimmel suggested that one way to pay for it was to first not give tax cuts to millionaires, and “leave it how it is.” This, of course, isn’t a real solution, but it shows you just how backwards everything is right now.
