Mac malware is still crude, but it’s slowly catching up to its Windows rivals
A tale of two attacks that both target MacOS users.
OSX users LOVE to boast about how they don't get viruses or malware or whatever (I haven't had either in… I can't even remember it's been so long). They of course leave out that's because it's mostly hipsters, personal users, and non-power users that use them (I'm in IT… I know tons of badasses that use OSX as their primary driver… I'm not talking about them). OSX accounts for less than ~5% of the market (https://goo.gl/4cY9vW). Obviously, those looking to exploit an OS will go after the larger and more profitable target; that which holds the larger portion of the market. It's called ROI.
To be fair… WTF are people still doing running XP? I'm not saying Windows users are smarter. That's not the case. However… the more OSX users there are the more sophisticated the attacks will become. When mac users can sit at the big kids table (/marketshare/install-base), THEN they can be smug. Beyond that… stop being dicks.
