Microsoft shows games on Mobile, PC, and Xbox

March 7, 2010 by Paul Spoerry Leave a Comment

The last week or so has been filled with information from Microsoft. One of the cooler things to happen came out during the keynote presentation at TechEd Middle East in Dubai. The softie Eric Rudder played the same Indiana Jones style game on a Windows computer, a Windows Phone 7 phone, AND an Xbox 360. Gaming is about to get to blow up and MS is making it’s power play.

Not only is the game itself playable on all three platforms, but the session is maintained when you move from each device: if you’re playing on your Xbox and have to run out the door, you’ll be on the same level when you fire it up on your Windows Phone 7 Series phone. Basically, you’ll never have an excuse not to be gaming.

This all seems utterly wicked from a technology perspective and simultaneously devastating from a “get anything done/have a social life” angle. I can’t imagine a game like… Civilizations… where you have that “just one more turn” mentality!!!

JSNES – NES emulator written entirely in Javascript shows off Chrome speed

September 18, 2009 by Paul Spoerry Leave a Comment

Ben Firshman has ported the vNES into Javascript. Seriously… in JavaScript. While that’s pretty cool itself what it really shows is the blinding fast speed at which Google Chrome can handle JavaScript. In Google Chrome you get Full speed, 60 FPS emulation. Firefox… about 10 FPS. Now you can goof off with some cool old school NES games right from your browser… as long as your browser is Chrome (COMEON GOOGLE… GET EXTENSIONS IN THERE SO I CAN SWITCH!)

Play Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” on your keyboard

March 12, 2009 by Paul Spoerry Leave a Comment

“Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” is a song by French duo Daft Punk. The single was first released on October 13, 2001. As part of the album Discovery, the song appears in the film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. The was sampled heavily in Kanye West’s 2007 song “Stronger” from the album Graduation. It also caused some viral internet sensations like Daft Hands, Daft Bodies, and a whole slew of others. Now you can play it on your keyboard… I bet this will cause a lot of people to waste a boatload of time today.
