PayPal Lets You Deposit Checks With Your Phone

May 20, 2011 by Paul Spoerry Leave a Comment

I hate checks… no… I despise checks. I use online banking for almost everything and rarely, if ever, have to dig out the check book to actually write out a check (ugh… that also includes a trip to the MAILBOX. *sigh*), GETTING a check is even worse. I have to go to the bank, I fear keeping the check to long and having money outstanding on someone else’s account, etc.

Back in October of 2010, PayPal added the ability to add money from checks was added to the PayPal app for iPhone. Turns out that’s been a huge hit and nearly a million dollars per month have been uploaded since it was launched. HOORAY FOR SKIPPING THE ATM!

Now you can snap a pic of the front and back of your check and it’ll be processed by PayPal (they suggest holding onto the check for a little bit just to be safe). Once you’ve got your money you can leave it in your PayPal account or EFT it to your bank!
