Meditating With Your Smartphone – Insight Timer Review
Perfect for mindful activities such as meditation and yoga, this simple yet powerful timer plays the beautiful sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl. Insight Timer (formerly Zen Timer) is a slick little timer app designed for meditation, yoga, and other such activities. You could of course simply set the alarm clock on your phone or use a timer, but Insight Timer has a lot of options for customization, and its sounds are much more peaceful than typical alarms. If you’re beginning meditation and looking for its immediate benefits, starting in an effort toward better productivity, or have been doing it for years this little app is handy.
Awesome Venue/Promoter Pages on Facebook
I’ve been all over Google+ lately, and I recently finished an article How To Create Events On Google+, via Google Calendar, on that platform. At best it’s a hack until Google releases an API that can be used. Shortly after that post went up I ran across ReverbNation, which provide two very slick Facebook apps, one for bands, one for venues.
The new app, can be seen in action over on Brooklyn venue The Knitting Factory’s Page. It’s simpler than the band app, but includes a lot of features that make venue/promoter content more shareable and interactive. Best of all it’s free and looks slick.
GeekTool for OS X: Like Rainmeter for Mac
Something we like to do as geeks is add customizations to our desktops, whether with themes or wallpapers. Today we take a look at GeekTool for OS X that will let you add different types of data to your desktop.
GeekTool for OS X is capable of many things from showing the weather outside to what’s playing on iTunes and more. It can display both static and dynamic information.
There are a lot of different Geeklets available that you can find at the link below. Here is an example of our desktop running several different Geeklets for iTunes, IP info, iCal, Weather – which pulls weather data from Yahoo, and the Time and Date we looked at above.
A more in-depth article can be viewed on HowToGeek.
